COVID-19 is scary, but there are things you can do to ensure that you remain safe and healthy. The best way to beat this pandemic is to make sure you and the people around you stay healthy to help flatten the curve of the spread. Here are some simple things to do to ensure your safety:

Practice Social Distancing

Given the current scenario globally with COVID-19, it has become a necessity for us to practice social distancing, not just for our safety but for the safety of others around us. A minimum distance of 6 feet needs to be maintained at all times so that we don’t infect others or vice versa.

Wash Your Hands Often and Thoroughly

One of the key ways to keep the virus at bay and stem the flow of its spread is to practice regular hygiene. Washing your hands regularly and thoroughly needs to be incorporated into your daily routine.

Washing hands does not mean just rubbing your hands with soap and then pouring water on them; hands need to be washed for 20 seconds at least so that foam is created and spread evenly over the hands, and we don’t miss any part of our palms, fingers or wrists. It is the foam that has been known to be able to cut through the fat of the COVID-19 virus and make sure it doesn’t harm us.

Avoid Touching Your Face

COVID-19 is known to be transmitted through droplets transmitted from the body of someone who is infected; these droplets can enter your body through your nose, mouth, and eyes. Seeing that you might still need to go out, whether it be to buy groceries, work, or any other unavoidable circumstance, it is paramount that you avoid touching your face.

What we don’t realize is that we can mistakenly touch an object without giving it a second thought, which is how this virus can be transmitted. It is always advisable to keep your hands away from your face till they are either washed or sanitized.

Keep Your Home and Surroundings Clean

Like we mentioned earlier, during these unavoidable circumstances where you do leave the house, it is likely that you will touch things that have been in contact with other people, and this even includes your car door. When you re-enter your home, your car, your room, and any other place, you are touching the doorknobs and any other surfaces in your home without even realizing it. Keep your surroundings disinfected and clean, so you don’t end up picking up the virus from your own home.

If you get a fever, a dry cough, or body aches, you are exhibiting symptoms that are associated with the virus. Wait a week to see if these symptoms subside.
